Technical Legend
Decoding the language of architectural surfaces. Explore the technical specifications and terminology that define Bellissimo quality.
ABRASION (RESISTANCE TO TRAMPLING WEAR)
Resistance of a surface to wear and tear. Classified with PEI grades (PEI 1 lowest to PEI 5 highest). For unglazed tiles, resistance increases as water absorption decreases.
ANTI-SLIP
The key safety feature of a tiled surface. A coefficient of friction measurement that ensures the surface is safe for walking, preventing architectural barriers.
ATOMIZATION
A drying stage of the ceramic mix (slip) using hot air to create spherical grains, facilitating the pressing process.
BIO-ARCHITECTURE
Architecture using low environmental impact materials, reducing chemical-physical and electromagnetic pollution for a healthier ecosystem.
BULK MECHANICAL FEATURES
Features concerning the resistance to loads (weight of people, furniture, transport) that the whole tile must withstand.
CE SECURITY MARK
EU safety product certification required to preserve public health and goods in buildings, involving a Declaration of Performance (DOP).
CERAMIC TILES
Sheets of low-porosity ceramic material crafted from high-purity clay and fired at extreme temperatures.
EPD (ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATION)
A transparency tool communicating environmental performance via Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), certified by independent third parties.
FROST-PROOF
Typical features of low porosity materials, resistant to frost and specifically engineered for outdoor use.
GRES PORCELLANATO (PORCELAIN TILES)
Ceramic tiles obtained via pressing, with low porosity and bright mix, firing at 1400°C for exceptional mechanical resistance.
GBC ITALIA
Green Building Council Italia, promoting LEED implementation and low environmental impact buildings.
LEED
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, an international rating system for eco-compatible, high-performance green buildings.
RECTIFIED MONOCALIBER
A process where tile edges are perfectly squared, allowing for minimal grout lines and a seamless architectural finish.
VITRIFICATION
The progressive fusion of the ceramic mix during firing, reducing porosity until the glass fills all internal pores.
ZERO.3 (LAMINATED STONEWARE)
Exclusive laminated stoneware technology resulting in large format slabs up to 120x260cm with ultra-thin thicknesses (3.5mm to 6mm).
